Answer» Okay, I was extremely hesitant at first, but I finally decided to do it for I couldn't find any other solutions. I would like to thank all of you for your opinions and dedication. Now that I have a fresh start, can you suggest me the best antivirus paid or unpaid in your opinion? Or any security updates you might have? I already have Malwarebyte install and up to date. I doubt Malwarebyte is sufficient, I also have Webroot spysweeper 2011. I have three internet browsers (the first time the virus made my computer can't go on either firefox or ie, but my cousins computer whose also was infected was able to get on google chrome and quickly got rid of the same virus). It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts. If you are using the built-in Windows XP firewall, it is not recommended as it does not block outgoing connections. This means that any malware on your computer is free to "phone home" for more instructions. Simply put, Windows XP contains a mediocre firewall. This firewall is NO replacement for a dedicated software solution. Remember to use only one firewall at the same time.

Alright, so microsoft security essentials it is, do I have to unistall webroot spysweeper 2011? I think im going to go with comodo for the firewall. Sound good? btw when I used eset online scanner, it kept detecting something call hn.exe in the folder c:\recycler\(bunch of numbers and letters)\. but I can't find the folder even though I made it view hidden folders. Also webroot DETECTS sdbot or something but even after i quarentine and delete it, it would still scan it. Quote do I have to unistall webroot spysweeper 2011? What I mean by "doing most" is that I didn't follow some of the unnessary procedures the guy commented. I have already reformated and those scans are showing. This can't be good. I don't see any symptoms yet though. Ok. Is it possible that you were infected again when you were downloading a new AV or something else? - Download your Anti-Virus and Firewall and save them to a CD, DVD or memory stick.
- Reformat again and please ensure that you're not connected to the Internet.
- Install you Anti-Virus and Firewall. Make sure you're XP firewall is DISABLED and enable Windows Defender.
- Make sure you scan your saved data before installing it on your computer.
- Re-install all your programs and connect to the net.
To wipe the drive clean, reformat and reinstall the OS. I don't want to sound picky but is there a less tedious way to do this? I already have a bunch of things install, like the drivers which requires cd lol. Also my cd-drive gets stuck when I want to take it out or put it back in because I installed it badly lol. I have to pull it downwards to get it out, I'm afraid any more pressure would make it snap sooner or later lol.Ok.
