Answer» Please could one of you help The other day i accidentally dropped my lap top and since then it keeps shutting down It will stay on for so long then i get a series of bleeps and it shuts down, sometimes it stays of for longer than other TIMES . I have also noticed that the fan comes on after a few seconds after start up an doesn't shut off.constant whirling noise . the lap top is an e systems running on windows XP pro media centre, Not sure what other information you require skybluewell if you dropped it chances are there is HARDWARE damage. there is not much you can do other than get it repaired, and try not to drop it in the future. sorry i cant be any more help Quote well if you dropped it chances are there is hardware damage. Thanks mannsupreme i think i ALREADY suspect that is the case ,but what hardware if its the hard drive i have a fair idea how to replace it,but i dont want to spend £50 on new hard drive when it could be something else get my drift skybluewell i think there is 2 things you can do and they are: - open up your laptop and try to diagnose what is wrong with it - have it repaired im not sure what warranty you have but opening it up yourself will most likely void it. having it repaired by a professional i think would be a good idea because it would save you ALOT of time trying to work out whats wrong with it. and if you get it wrong and replace something you didn't need to then you will need to spend even more time and money to correct it, get my drift?
