Solve : lap top touch pad?

Answer»

Hope this is the right place.  After 3 yrs the touch padon my lap top (Acer) has "stuck" & I CANNNOT move it.  As I have a wireless mouse I didn't bother with it, but now I need the USB port that the mouse is in for a flash drive.  Is this a big repair & where do I go?If you don't feel like getting the TOUCHPAD replaced you can get little unpowered USB hubs that would be OK for items like wireless mice / flash drives. This is quite a common way of adding USB connectivity to laptops.

They are not expensive at all.

All below are 4 port hubs

There are lots and lots of different styles and designs.

Just a toss to the wind, if you run the LAPTOP without the battery in does the touchpad work?It is also worth mentioning that most laptops incorporate some method for intentionally disabling the touchpad. My Acer netbook uses Fn [function button]+F7 to toggle the touchpad on and off, although yours may be different. Make sure this is not the cause of the problem.

None the less, you will find a USB hub to be useful.
