Answer» Hi. I have a problem connecting my laptop to new wifi router. I have Lenovo IdeaPad S12 and everything worked fine till I bought the router (D-Link AC1200) and tried to connect my laptop to the internet. Wifi network doesn’t show up on my laptop. Firstly I thought that it’s the fault of the router but my smartphone DETECTS it with no problem. The laptop STILL sees neighbors’ networks. Here are router’s and laptop’s specs https://primebuy.com/product/d-link-dir-822-us-ac1200-wireless-dual-band-fast-ethernet-router https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-ideapad-s12/specs/ Do you know what’s wrong with it? tiaYour Laptop only supports 802.11b/g wireless standard the new router supports 802.11ac I suggest if you need to use wireless at home ie you can't use an ethernet CABLE then you look for a usb wireless adapter which supports 802.11ac standard.
Like this one Wireless AC1300 MU-MIMO Dual Band Nano USB AdapterI don't have a goolge account, but people with D-link routers have been helped via the link https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/internet. I stick ewith Netgear routers and Alfa wifi adapters for Linux, myself.Thank you all!
