Solve : Laptop Fan Help? |
|
Answer» The fan on my laptop is annoyingly loud, so I want to replace it. My main question is how do I know what size one to replace it with? I want to keep the same size I have now. Thanks.Spray it with wd40........that will shut it up! and a laptop fan it not on for long!It has always been loud since I got it new, so WD40 isn't going to do anything for it. I just want to know how to tell what size it is so I can buy a new, more quiet fan to replace it with that is the same size. Quote The fan on my laptop is annoyingly loud, so I want to replace it. Most LAPTOPS seem to come with a BIOS setting that allows you to SET them to either performance or silence. Have you tried that first?I didn't send any kind of option like that in BIOS. Would that have caused it to eventually overheat anyway? Does anyone know how to tell what size fan I have? Quote I didn't send any kind of option like that in BIOS. Not very knowledgeable when it concerns laptops, perhaps it only applies to Toshiba.I would suggest to do nothing. Even if you could find a quieter fan, it would have to provide the same air flow as the original, or the CPU will overheat and the computer will DIE. If you feel confortable "cracking the CASE open", you could get a part number from the fan and then look for a replacement. There are three criteria: 1. Size - MUST be the same 2. cfm - must be equal to or greater than what you have 3. dB - must be less than what you have |
