I wonder if all laptops have a hard drive. I've used many at stores on display and I don't sense any spinning sound like I do when I use a PC with a tower. Do all netbooks also have hard drives? If they do, how tiny are they? My friend says they use tiny flash drives rather than hard drives to save space.With very few exceptions, all laptops have a hard drive. A very few have solid state drives. The cost of solid state drive is 5 to 10 times the cost of a comparable hard drive.

Netbooks are designed to be low cost machines so the cost issue of a solid state drive makes hard drives standard although I've read about some netbooks designed for DEVELOPING COUNTRIES with very small solid state drives.
