Answer» My mother's GOT a HP-Pavilion dv-1000 laptop. Our kitten somehow MANAGED to pry off the "2" key, and one of the tabs is busted on it. Can't get it back on. Unfortunately, our warantee company defrauded us and refuses to repair it, claiming their insurance was only for desktops, even though it's rather clear that it's covered in the contract. (They are refunding 90% of the warranty costs.)
Now, we need to buy a new keyboard for that laptop, and we don't have a clue how. Anyone know how? Nothing much came up on Google, just people complaining about their broken keyboards.http://www.impactcomputers.com/367778-ad1.htmlIt says on that site 60 bucks. If I were you, I'd DEAL with the broken key (it still works if you press on that space right?), and not waste the MONEY. Or, try to press that warranty issue. Some ideas from a novice.$60!!! Why not try to get one from eBay or something?Nothing found on ebay fellas...
How's about this one...man, you guys are cheap!!!

We don't know how to install the keyboard in question once we get it. [edit]Oops, wrong button...[/edit]Anyone in your area savy enough to do it for you to save some bucks? It's not that difficult...if you know what you are doing.
If you have to pay to get it done...find out what they charge. Otherwise, see if you can get a tech manual and do it yourself. Will see if I can find a tech manual and post it here.
Here ya go:
