Solve : Laptop not recognizing external monitor - SOLVED?

Answer»

I have a working LCD monitor and am trying to get my laptop to recognize it. I go through all te set up steps properly. F7 is the toggle and all I get is a blank screen on the external monitor (the power light is green).

I updated the driver. No help there.

If I go to display devices via XP, I see the second monitor. If I click "extend..." then a mesage flickers on the display which READS "Analog 1 cannot display in this video mode".

Any help appreciatedWhat is the make and model of the laptop and LCD?

Lenovo X300 Laptop and a Dell standared issue 17" LCD (non widescreen).

I confirmed that I have display adapters for both devices. I have updated the video driver. I have confirmed the resolution support is up to 1280X1024. I have tried LOWER registrations as well. Quote from: Computer_Commando on September 28, 2009, 02:21:05 PM

The laptop does support this. I've tried the external monitor as the primary device (not in extend mode) and still no luck.

can't be this hardScreen Resolutions
X300=1440x900 which is 16:9 (wide screen)
17"monitor= 1280x1024 which 4:3 (non-wide screen)

These resolutions are not compatible. Both MUST be 16:9 or 4:3.It is now working. Thanks for your help.How did you get it to work?
