Answer» Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite P100-347 Laptop computer. I have just discovered that it is probably over-heating.
This only became apparent to me when I installed a Sims 3 Expansion PACK yesterday. It is the first time I have used the computer for gaming since January.
From a clean boot, with a completely cool system, I found I could play comfortably at the proper frame rate for almost half an HOUR - at which point the game lost virtually all of its responsiveness.
I felt the temperature of the palm-rest which was warm and then felt UNDER the machine and that was absolutely ROASTING HOT.
The fans run. They run ALL the time the computer is on. I would say they "breathe" rather than "blow" hot air out. They are steady, constant but perhaps not as vigorous as they should be.
My other laptop is ALSO having fan issues. It is a Lenovo which has started to rattle when they fans spin - but it does mean I am aware that THOSE ones are not on 100% of the time.
I would like some advice about what I can do about fans in laptops.
I wonder if people would RECOMMEND cooling mats. I have seen a mat advertised that appears to contain some heat-dispersing powder. I would prefer that to anything that needs a USB port because I never have any free ports as it is.try blowing canned air through the openings to get any dust off the heatsink. if you know how to get to your cpu clean the fan and the heatsink with canned air also if you do get that far dont forget to clean off the old thermal grease and put new thermal grease on also if you think your fan is bad now would be the perfect time to change itDownload CPUID Hardware Monitor or Speedfan to know what's going up on laptop component and monitor hardware temps and fan before, during game. Laptops are not really made for gaming specially EXTENSIVE games. Please ask only one machine problem per thread. I've never used canned air before but have found some online sold in quantities of 200ml and 400ml. How much do you think I would need to have to blast through the dual vents of TWO laptops.
There are ten inlets in each of the vents on the Lenovo, should I shoot some air into each gap one after the other ?Quotenever used canned air before but have found some online Do you realize that you can get these at any generic office supply store? You don't have to buy them online and wait for them to ship.
