Solve : Laptop running slow and shutting off?

Answer»

I have a HP Pavillion zv 6000 laptop, about 1 and a half years old. For a while now I have had problems with it RUNNING slow and shutting down. Some times it will run slow for a while then snap out of it, other times it will shut down completely. This happens frequently. Even more so when I'm running games or programs or pretty much when I ask it to do something a little bit demanding. After it shuts off, it usually takes a ittle while before I can turn it back on. If I don't wait and press the power button immediately it will usually shut down again after only a few SECONDS. I have installed Kaspersky on it but I am not able to get to deep into the scan before you guessed it, the computer shuts off. Te laptop is also a lot noisier than I believe it used to be.
What should I do to take care of this problem?

Thanks in advanceUsually when a Computer Gets Relay slow for no evident Reason its because its loaded down with Mal-ware, or The HDD is dieing.

Either Way , i would recommend that you Backup all your Data, then Format and Reinstall windows.

Windows should run nice and quick after a fresh install.

That reminds me , i need to do a De frag.Have you checked to SEE whether the processor is actually being THROTTLED back when it seems to be run slower? You could check this by right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, and looking at the info on the General TAB.

If you run on battery power, has the length of time that laptop will run before needing recharged gotten a lot shorter than when it was new?Diagnose RAM/HDD/Fans.The responses are becoming briefer and more concise.....Quote

Aren't you proud of the new crew ? ?

I think Raptor is conserving his typing energy. Still awful sharp with that wit though... Yes, I was trying to preservee my energy. But since the poster hasn't responded yet, I think that was a good thing. "Diagnose RAM/HDD/Fans. "
I hope I don't sound to stupid but how?"Have you checked to see whether the processor is actually being throttled back when it seems to be run slower? You could check this by right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, and looking at the info on the General tab"

It drops all the way down to 233 MHz when it's running slowQuote

Fans = Make sure they're operating

HDD = Software from HDD manufacturer

RAM = Microsoft Memory Diagnostics
