Solve : Laptop screen goes blank on startup?

Answer»

Hello World, my name is Sean and I'm having some trouble. I own Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop and she has a few cracks and dings (abused by family). Well, now whenever I turn it on, the Dell logo flashes for a spill second and then nothing. I'd like to know if a hard reset would fix this, but my laptop claims my version of windows isn't geniune. I took it to a REPAIRMAN to fix the problem a year ago, though.. I'm using my Xbox to type this out so sorry for any errors. Oh, I'm running Windows 7Did Windows 7 come with the laptop?
I think your battery has gone bad.
Can you get into the BIOS?
Do this:
REMOVE the battery, plug in in the AC adapter.
Hold and release the power button, then tap the F2 a few times.
It should bot into the BIOS.
Inside the BIOS you can take a look ANS see if the date and time are torrent.
Correct if needed and load the default settings for your laptop.
Reboot and see if that helps.

No its a pretty old laptop. I sent it in for repairs and it came back saying the battery wasnt in though itwas pyschically. Ill try your suggestion and let you know if it works.
No dice. It just does what its been doing.
OK. Trying to repair an old laptop is not worthwhile, except as a pastime.
On eBay they sell for under $100 as is, or about $150 with a warranty.

But WAIT. One more thing. Remove the Hard drive. Make sure nothing is in the USB ports. Try to power on with no battery, no hard drive and on the AC power brick only. It should come up in the BIOS screen.

Describe what happens when you try the above.

Does it show this?

[attachment deleted by admin to conserve space]Ufortunately, that's not going to happen. I've got some damage on the hinges and if i close it, I'll probably CAUSE more damage. I'll take your advice and buy a new one.

Thanks anyway,friend.
