Solve : Laptop Shuts Down On Its Own.?

Answer»

The laptop in question is an HP nx7010.  It was in standby mode over night.  In the morning when the user went to take it out of standby mode it was locked and wouldn't come out, so he did a hard reboot.  He restarted the laptop and got a no READ message.  When trying to USE safe mode it stays in the loop from startup through the INITIAL Window splash with progress bar to the safe mode choice screen, where it flashes an autoexec screen briefly and starts over.  Any suggestions?I don't suppose it is under warranty? Did you contact HP from the contact numbers/email on their site?

I have no IDEA what a "no read message" is.I'm actually in the process of contacting HP.  Just waiting for a reply.  The user performed an HDD test through f10 setup which is where he received the message--no READ.HP didn't want to spend the time troubleshooting the problem.  Instead they are going to send me a new hard drive.  I'm glad the problem will be fixed, however, I wish I KNEW what caused the problem.  Oh well....Be warned that they will not back up the data, or even attempt to, first.

Suspend, HIBERNATE, all of  those gimmicks have risks.
