i have a HP dv6000 and whenever I PRESS the power button it lights up then shuts downin about 1/2 a second I've taken the battery out and tried booting it off just the power cord and I've unplugged it and tried with just the battery but I get the same thing. can someone helpIs you laptop RECEIVING power when plug up? Can you get into the bios?If you take off the battery and just use the power plug, does it still have the flashing lights? because if not your charger mighht not be working.It is receiving recieving power without the battery the lights flash and then it shuts down and I don't even get a glance at the bios

If you have two memory sticks try using one at a time to boot up.tried the memory and it's still TURNS off
Can you remove the hard drive and see if anything comes up?Honestly it sound likes it your power supply.I thought so too but its not the charge light comes up on the laptop and stays onand the ac adapter is GETTING powerHave you had any problems with your laptop shutting down on its own? thats what it doing as soon as I press the power button the lights on the keyboard COME on and then it shuts off about a half a second later
