Solve : LCD help?

Answer»

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1805 laptop. I got it about a month ago and the battery was having issues. It wouldn't stay on for more than two minutes. When I could get into windows I would get a low battery message. The ORIGINAL OWNER just wanted rid of it, so he gave it to me.

So I ordered a NEW battery. It came yesterday. I was excited about having a working laptop again. So today I turn it on and the monitor is not working. I can hook it up to an external monitor and see that the COMPUTER is working. If I hold a flashlight up to the screen I can just barely see the image. So I'm thinking that the LCD's backlight or inverter has gone bad.

Does anyone know how to repair the screen? I'm afraid that it is a lost cause.
It works fine other than the screen. I can use it as long as I plug a monitor into it, but I got it to use as a portable computer. I'm pretty handy with electronics but I don't know how hard this screen will be to repair.
Any ideas?
