O.K. Here's the deal...

I have a brand new T5088 emachines PC with an Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz, 501MB, 32-bit Operating System running Vista.

I kept my old Dell LCD 17"flat panel monitor. (model 1704FPT1) About a week ago while I was online (offline too) the screen got real bright and then just went black. I turned it off and BACK on and it came on for a nano second and then black again. I can sit here and turn it off and on and it keeps going back to black. After about a minute or two it comes back. So now I just turn it off and WAIT a minute or two and turn it back on. I have not timed the up time in between blackouts. But it seems to be random. I don't think there is an exact pattern. (Seems the more important the thing I am doing, the more it does it! LOL)

I have tried SEARCHING for updated drivers but it comes back saying that the best driver is installed. I have been through lots of help screens and troubleshooting. I cannot find anything about this. Can anyone help?

I am freaking out!! It is really bugging me if we are in the middle of something important when it goes out. PLEASE help!
