Solve : Lite-On LH201APnot burning at fullspeed??

Answer»

Hey guys,

I'll start with my machine specs and then describe whats going on.

MoBo: ASUS P4PE - sata and lan edition.
RAM:768MB Ram (3x256MB DDR266)
HDD's:
Quantum Fireballct20 20 (20GB) IDE 1 M
ST340015A (40GB) IDE 1 S
HDS722540VLAT20(40GB) IDE 2 M
ST...cant remember the number and its atatched to the 3rd Sata/IDE controller and comes up as stripe 1+0/RAID0 (20gb)
OPTICAL: Lite-On LH201AP 20x DVD multidrive. IDE 2 S
XP SP2 all updates.

Ok now heres the PROBLEM, when using burning applications, the max speed i can burn cd's or DVD's at is 8x, not 16x or 20x like i could at a earlier stage...as I can tell, nothing has changed, all HDD's at UDMA5 and the DVD burner at UDMA4

Any help is appreciated!

Try different brand of disk. Burner drives have disk ID codes stored internally and burn at safe speed for disk type.
OK Will do ASAP.
The disks were given to me by a mate and they are completely BLANK on the top so I don't know the disks speeds

Thanks,

But the burner does. Look at the middle of the disk near the hole, there may be a product ID code number there.

On the pink one at first glance it looks like a reference # to our FAQ solution database
Til i noticed it's a G and not a CHAHA silly me yes they are 4x-8x disks good thinking! and thanks heaps!
