Solve : Looking to do some Xfire :D?

Answer»

Hey guys,

Im having some TROUBLE FINDING the part I need.

I currently am running an

Athlon 2 X4 OC 3.0 GHZ
4GB DDR3
Radeon 5770

Im looking to upgrade my CPU to a Phenom 2 X6
and grab another 5770 and do some Xfire.

The only problem is, that I want to put it all into a Micro ATX case.
All the possible AM3 boards that can do this have both PCI-Es running at 8x Ive herd that its ok to have one PCIE running at 16 then the other at 8x but not both 8x. Anyone have any info on this that could help me out or even know where I can buy a board that will do the trick?mATX boards with 2 pci-e slots are hard to come by, just for the fact that they are small in size and lack a little less power than regular atx boards. i highly doubt there are mATX boards out there that will run both cards at 16x.

i looked into it a little and only found 1 board at newegg. it's this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136068Quote from: normz on May 15, 2010, 11:23:42 AM

It's fine to run the slots at whatever speed you want. X8/X8 will not meaningfully hold back any card's performance, with the possible exception of a 5970.The heat is gonna be tremendous in that mini ATX case....Quote from: patio on May 17, 2010, 07:39:59 PM

yeah. i forgot to mention that... i have a small case as well with an 8800gt in there and it really pushes it when i play games with high graphics. Quote from: Calum on May 17, 2010, 12:18:17 PM

Thats what ive been told and its good to hear. If 8x 8x wont be a problem then thats what Ill do.
