Solve : Looping during Re-boot? |
|
Answer» Need some help.....got up the other morning and computer was trying to reboot....thought nothing of if, thot the power might have flickered or something. However, before I left for work.....it was still trying to re-BOOT. It's like it's in a LOOP....it brings up the Windows XP sign with the scrolling blue bar at the bottom.....but never fully re-boots. It came up with a screen that said windows didn't shut down properly....choose start normally......safe mode....last good configuration.....have tried everything.....keeps looping.....Any suggestions. It's an EMachines.....that's about all I know. Using work compputer right now.1. Are you able to boot into "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"? This happened to me too on my old computer. I had to get a new HDD...And we're not going to rule out that possibility here - but just because a bad hd was the cause of your problem does not guaranty that's the problem here. We're going to try a few things before suggesting the poster spends money.I did get the blue screen which is about 5 lines.....space....about 5 more lines....it stays on the screen for about a second.....not even time to read it, much less write it down and post. Once it puts it up and it goes away.....it wont come back up when looping through the next time. And No, it wont boot up in any mode. I've already replace the hard drive on this one once, this hard drive was bought at Best Buy, and looks like I may have to replace again. An IT guy gave me instructions once before......DOS prompts to get in and repair the partitions, and of course, I have SINCE missplaced them. Was hoping someone on here might know how to do that. Please be advised.....I'm computer illiterate! I can only operate one......not diagnose nothing. LOLAssuming you are running XP, boot to the CD and choose the first repair option (press "R"). That will take you to the Recovery Console. Once there, run chkdsk /r. It will take a while to complete - let it do so.Check your RAM, bad stick can make that happen.K, will try this afternoon.....thanks!!!! |
