Solve : Lost HDD?

Answer»

I got a real puzzling problem here and I have no idea what do.
I was adjusting a partition on one of my HDD and then suddenly next thing I know it's gone. The whole drive not just that partition. It does show up anywhere.
I tried in the looking for it in the cmos HDD detection and it.... it... um... well instead of saying something along the lines of "40GB IDE Hard Disk" or what ever should say, it um just has alot of upside down L one after the other. So it's LIKE theres still something there but the bios doesn't like know that it's a hard drive.
I don't know, that's my interpretation of what I see.

Please help. This is very puzzling. Does anyone know how I can solve this? Any help would be appreciated.Fooling with partitions is a dangerous task and one should always create a drive image before doing so. Look in Disk Management - what do you see? Those squiggly upside down characters are normally signs of a scrambled partition table...not always recoverable."Those squiggly upside down characters are normally signs of a scrambled partition table...not always recoverable."

Does this mean theres nothing that I can do for it? Is there anything that I can try? Let me go THRU my archives for partition recovery tools...as that SOUNDS like what's needed. Quote from: PATIO on January 23, 2010, 05:27:25 PM

Just wondering if you've had much luck going through your archives?http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS304US305&q=partition+recovery+freeware&aq=f&aql=&aqi=g4&oq=
