Answer» I've lost a HARD Disk. One minute it was there, the next Windows tells me it is an unformatted drive. Whats up? Most of my important files are on that disk! AMD XP1900, 784RAM, disk 1 (120gig) has 3 PARTITIONS on ide0, disk 2 (200gig) had 1 PARTITION on ide1
I ran disk cleanup on C drive then defragged C (1st patition on disk 1) and H (disk 2). soon after disk 2 showed up as an unformatted disk. Partition Magic 7 shows drive as 194gig/NTFS with no errors. Windows does not see partition.Could it be your BIOS needs updating? If Partition Magic sees it and Windows does not, I suspect a BIOS issue. See if the motherboard manufacturer has any updates. Why would the need for a bios update suddenly make a visible and funtioning harddisk appear unformatted?Have you done the following:
- Scanned for Viruses
- Scanned for Spyware
- Scanned for Trojan Horses
Yes, Yes, and Yes. All negative. I just ran BELARC ADVISOR and it shows the drive as healthy as well but does not show the partition. I'm baffled by this.I have also viewed the drive info in Partition Magic 7 and it shows the NTFS partition as healthy and active.Commando, I have current Bios installed.
