i had a bad virus and the sound has not worked SINCE

also cannot find my EXTERNAL storeage device in ( my computer )Re-installed the sound drivers?

All else fails clean install of Windows.   you can't mean reboot the pc Reboot the PC would mean turn it off and on. I mean install Windows XP on the HDD again and clear everything off.

Well first you would need to tell us whether its an onboard sound card or an additional SOUNDCARD you are using.

You would also need to provide the make and model of the soundcard or motherboard for us to advise what drivers you need.all fixed
