Solve : LVDS too VGA/TV converter.?

Answer»

I have an old 15" widescreen LCD panel from a dell inspiron E1505, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good cheap kits too use with it too convert it too a STANDARD desktop monitor (DVI, or VGA input), and be able too also use it as a TV (Speakers will be separate, probably a cheap set of thin speakers mounted too it). I would like too wall-mount this monitor so I can use it as a TV now, and a monitor for my router/firewall this fall. The only thing I really watch on TV is the news, and I don't really want my 19" Zenith TV taking up SPACE to do that. The tuner for the kit doesn't have too be of great quality, but it must be able too last and, be built into the actual LVDS too VGA converter, oh, and I want a kit with a remote control so I still have the convenience of a TV, but also a monitor too check my firewall/router status.

Even though I believe the news too be mostly fabricated too tell us what they want us too hear, I still like too get a general picture of the worlds recent events, and besides, the kit shouldn't cost more than $125, which means I'll have a 15" LCD monitor/TV for $125 or less, I need a new TV anyway. Oh, the mounting system doesn't have too come with it, I'm going too rig it all too some mounting system so I can wall mount it.

Thanks in advance.Dead_Reckon,Your efforts to keep technology in use and out of the landfill is indeed very admirable. However in this case other than the experience to be potentially gained from the acquiring and assembly of the various COMPONENTS to perhaps ACHIEVE your objectives i question the practicality of the effort. You do know that a brand new 17 in. LCD monitors can be had for around $99.00 today and LCD TVs of that size for about $140.00 or less.truenorthYes, but this serves as both an LCD monitor and TV, which means, I'd be spending about $150 on a decent LCD monitor, then $50-80 on a decent TV tuner, and I don't have a machine too put a TV tuner in either, so i figure, two birds with one stone, save some money, I'm happy.

EDIT: Biggest reason for doing this, cash, or, a lack there of, I do not have enough money too buy an LCD TV, let alone money too buy an LCD panel for a router/firewall BOX, this is just a way for me too save some cash, have a decent compact TV/Hardware tester/Firewall/router monitor
