Solve : MAC-Transferring HDD's from one MAC to another Mac?

Answer»

I have aPower Mac 7200 with Os8 operating System.I am getting READY to retire it . It has a 40 meg HDD in it that has some Programs (Microsoft Word) and a lot of files on it that I would Like to install on its replacement which is a MAC G-4 with a OS 10.6. Is there a reasonble way to simply remove the 40 Meg HDD and installit in the G-4  with all data and programs intact, thus giving me 2 HDDs in the G-4? Any Info on this subject would be appreciated. Thank YouFrom what very little I know about Apple hardware, I would say it is not possible to just plug it into the G4 motherboard (the older Power Mac 7200 USES the SCSI hdd interface).

It may be possible to use an external enclosure, but I don't think the software on your old HARD DRIVE will run on the new computer.
This would depend upon the way Mac OS was written, and I know even less about Mac OS than I know about the hardware they use.
