Solve : Maximum Hard Drive Capacity?

Answer»

Hi experts,

Current Pc hardware:
Cpu - 2 gb Intel
Ram - approx 700 mb
Os - XP Home
Pc manufacture year - approx 2001 thru 2003
Hard drive - IDE ATA 40 gb

Question 1:
If there is a need to replace the hard drive - what are the other hardwares to verify to determine the maximum NEW hard drive capacity? for example, right now is 40 gb then can the new hard drive be 300 gb ? or 500 gb in the future.

Question 2:
Pc with 1 hard drive - if now is 40 gb and new hard drive is 300 gb - would the pc work smoothly.

Question 3:
If now is 40 gb and a 300 gb is added in the second bay would the pc work smoothly?

Thanks.
Look your MOTHERBOARD manual or searrch on the net for maximum hard drive capacity. There must be SOMEWHERE about. I think your system configuration can pretty support fairly large amount of hard drive eg.300. Using both would do no harm. But you must first CONSIDER allowed size of your disk.
