Solve : Media Player?

Answer»

Here RECENTLY, I can not play a DVD with Media Player. The MOVIE will lock up the computer. Can not use Cltr+Alt+Delete. The only way to GET out of it is to restart the computer. I was using Media 11 un-install it and download Media 9. The same thing happens.
I can play music using Media Player but not a DVD.
Any help would be appreciated.
O.S. XP PROI find media player really SLOW for some reason.

I use vlc player to watch movies, i think its a lot faster and less buggy.

I am just trying to fix or try to fix what MAY have caused the problem.
Not smart on computers but I am learning somethings.
I thought if I deleted Media Player 11. Even went to search for all hidden files to make sure it was all deleted. I then installed Media Player 9 and just my luck it still does not work.
Windows Media Player is simply a crappy program.
Go with vizvim's advice, and use VLC Player.Quote from: Broni on August 25, 2009, 06:37:22 PM

Windows Media Player is simply a crappy program.
Go with vizvim's advice, and use VLC Player.

Or you could get the Klite Codec Pack which comes with the media player classic and handles DVD's, media, and music files fine as well.

I would simply just try another software and see if that works on your computer and that would get you going, even if you still want to attempt fixing your original problem with the Media Player.
