Solve : Memory Caping? |
|
Answer» I am running a ga-vm800pmc mouther bord with a 2Duo CPU em4500 2.20ghz. Nvidia GeForce 7300 gt. the bord has 4 mem slots 2 ddr2 and 2 ddr1, u can only run one or the outher not both. Max is 2 gig unbuffed mem. im trying to run 2 gig ddr2 533 unbuffed but can only run 1 gig because 2 1 gig stucks actuly makes it alittle more than 2 gig. the moutherbord only alows exactly 2 gig.does any one know a way to to cap the memory at 2 gig? my os is xp ser2... BC programer thats the hammer on the nail. Im just trying to figure it there away to trick the bios to only pick up exactly 2 gig. ps the manufacture says is supports the mem brand i perchesed. think you'll find just about every board manufacture says something to that effect, and they actuall use some memory for the system board resources so the max. they see is 2048 minus system mem... you are plugging them into the correct slots as specified by the manual??? What does the MBoard manual say ? ? Are the RAM speeds within specs ? ? I suspect there are more hidden details to this issue...what I said before was my thought process to understand the misunderstanding. Your board supports 2GB. 2GB is 2048, not 2000. Especially when dealing with RAM. my ramblings seemed to indicate that your assumption was correct; thankfully for you however, it is almost assuredly not the case, and 2GB of RAM is 2048MB.yes this is true but i still cant git it to work i have manoged to git allthe way to the windows is loding screen but the it reboots every time. so when i take the second 1 did ram out it boots allthe wayI find it extremely hard to fathom that a board would cap out at 2000MB ... That being said i would DLoad and run MemTest...let it run at least 2 hours and test each stik individually... |
