Answer» I have emachines t5048. RUNNING windows xp 32 bit. Mother board emachines D102GGC2. Right now 512 ram. I RAN a crucial memory test my computer can use PC2 5300 2048 max non ecc ddr2. I was able to purchase corsair xms2 ddr2 pc2 6400 800mhz 2x1024 for $5 after rebate. I put it in and nothing. I took your advice patio thank you. I reset my bios and was able to get the computer to run on one 1GB memory stick. When I put in both and turn on my cpu My fan kicks on to very high rpms and my monitor detects and immediately GOES into powersave mode. I only have 2 slots. The funny thing is that in BIOS it says only 1 slot is being used. I have tested both slots and they both work. I have also tested both memory sticks and they both work. I even put in the old 512 in the first slot and the new 1GB in the second slot to see if I could get 1.5G but bios tells me slot 1 is inactive. It also seems that my BIOS does not allow me to change values in regards to memory. Originally when I installed 1GB stick BIOS said I only had 896mb memory. This morning I went into Bios and it said I had 1024. I would really like to get that second stick working Any suggestions? Thanks for the helpThis guy must be a masochist as he has assembled a ton of info on eMachines ; their MBoards and once in awhile actual Owner's MANUALS...something i would not do even if i was retired and they were paying me a half Mil a year... |
