Solve : memory upgrade?

Answer»

Hi i have 1gb of memory i WANT to put in another 1gb mine is ddr2 400ghz 184 pin.i have been told all ddr2 is 184pin but i have been on lots of sites and the majority of ddr2 is 200/240 pins.is this pin number critical. i can't put anything other than 184 pin in my computer.can somebody please help.If your motherboard can only accept memory with 184 pins, then you are CURRENTLY using DDR, not DDR2. You cannot install ddr2 memory onto a motherboard designed to accept ddr memory. The RAM sockets are different so ddr2 will not fit into sockets designed for ddr memory.

What is the make/model of your computer?

Visit crucial.com or kingston.com or newegg.com and use their memory configurator. If they have your computer model in their DATABASE, their memory configurator will tell you what memory you can buy for your computer. Thanks Eeviac/Soybean CHECKED with crucial you are right i am using ddr not ddr2.
found same on kingston. thanks again.
