Solve : memory upgrade gone whacky??

Answer»

I just purchased (2) 1gb DDR333 PC2700 unbuffered, low density memory sticks for my computer (I had it scanned for compatability).  The memory sticks I got are recognized by the computer, but won't allow my son to play his warcraft game. (he can play it if I take put the original stick back in).  The new sticks have 18 small chips on each side.  also they say 1G pc2700 UDIMM 2RX8 on a sticker attached.  I'm thinking they must have SENT the wrong chips? (this is the second time they have sent me incorrect stuff).  The 16 chips on each side throws me as I have not been able to find any similar LOOKING sticks on line at all.

Thank you for your help.

WheezieWhat do you mean they "won't allow" your son to play his game?
The computer will not play the game with the new memory installed.  It comes up with a "fatal" error.

thank you.Yes, sounds like they may be FAULTY or incompatible. I take it you didn't get this "fatal" error before?

Correct,

The computer recognizes the memory now as 1.99 GB.  As soon as he tries to play the game in the drive, it starts ACTING whacky.

I don't recognize this memory stick as it has 16 small black chips on each side instead of the 8 most 1GB sticks have.  I'm not sure if it is uncommon? just plain not for my computer.

Thanks again!where did you buy this new memory stick from?

An exchange, replacement or RETURN may be in order.
