Answer» HP Pavilion s3541uk Vista Home Premium 32 bit Trying to upgrade memory from 3gb to 4gb to run Windows 7. I have confirmed I have the correct memory from Crucial but when they are fitted the computer doesn't BOOT. Memory sticks fitted at present are:- Samsung 1gb 1Rx8 Pc26400u-666-12-22 MT 2GB 2Rx8 Pc26400u-666-12-EO ddrcls If I replace the 2 gb stick with either new Crucial stick, leaving the Samsung 1gb in place, everything works fine. If I LEAVE the 2gb Crucial stick in place and replace the Samsung 1gb with the original MT 2gb stick, the computer wont boot. It seems the Motherboard doesn't like 2 gb sticks in that slot. According to HP there has been no Bios upgrade other than one to address a different problem. The system specs are:- Bios Phoenix Tech. Version 5.14 Rom 1.0mb System Board Chipset nVidia MCP73 Base Board Foxconn Irvine Somebody else suggested I reset the CMOS but I'm not sure what that will do. I've searched other posts but nothing seems to match my problem exactly. Please HELP!What type of memory? Let me get this straight you just upgraded your operating system? and do you get power to the machine and a boot failure? Do you have any old memory sticks still in your machine? Or did you just put them in the wrong ports. specific ports are made to work TOGETHER but I do not see how that could effect your boot.
