Answer» I have a MicroSD card that part way through copying a large batch of files to for the first time reported it was unable to copy any more as it was write protected. LOADS of spare capacity.
Its NOT write protected as far as its connection device as the micro and std card to USB converter it in has none. Other SD and microSD are fine, def the new Samsung branded card.
The card won't run the repair DUE.........guess what!
The files it did copy are there, readable, but refuse to delete as ............ guess what.
It won't format under Win 10 either as it also says its write protected. Consistent across more than one laptop. Same for Linux
OK, I should bin it, but out of interest, is there a way of forcing format??You can do it through diskpart utility of Windows 10
1. Open command prompt and Type "diskpart" to start the utility 2. Type "list disk" to show the list of available disks in the system 3. You can find your SD card by looking for a number of megabytes or gigabytes that correlates with your SD card's storage in the "Size" column 4. Type select disk X (here X stands for the disk number of your SD card 5. Type attributes disk clear readonly 6. press "Enter" You should see a line of text that reads "Disk attributes cleared successfully" appear in the window below your cursor, signifying that your SD card is no longer write-protected.
Hopefully, it will help you resolve your issue.Thanks.
Did that. No trouble going through it and it CAME up with the right end message.
Still got the write protected lock message though when I tried to alter files or format SD!
Whatever has locked it into write protect mode has done a thorough job!
Not worth more time I think, I just hate to let a machine beat me!!Obvious answer, lock switch is unlocked of COURSE?
