Solve : Middle click opens new documents?

Hi,

I recently acquired a new 8 button MOUSE (ione lynx p3) from someone who had no use for it. It says on the box "no drivers required for windows XP" so i plugged it in and it went through the whole found new hardware etc. and then it told me it was ready to use. But it didn't work not even the movement. So i deferred back to my old 3 button mouse which worked fine, or so I thought.

Now when I click the middle mouse button (using my 3 button mouse) My Documents pops up in EXPLORER. I've tried updating the drivers and reinstalling them but no change. It's not so much the middle mouse button but the middle click function because in Logitech Setpoint, when I change the function of the middle button to something else (i.e. minimize, do nothing, start menu, etc.) it works fine for it's assigned function but not for the middle click function. This is quite frustrating as I use Autocad and Revit where the middle button is essential for panning and rotating. I run XP sp3.

Thanks

I noticed this post on this forum from back in April 09 and I have the same problem, the solutions given at the time however consisted of but a new mouse or system restore. The mouse I have at the moment is a standard optical hp 2-button with scroll, everything works except the autoscroll and as fore-mentioned INSTEAD it opens my documents, I can change it to perform other functions such as shift key or what-have-you, but I do like to use it on the web to scroll, open links and close webpages etc.

System restore is out of the picture also as I have been given the computer from my parents and have no idea how far back this problem stems from. I am running XP Professional on the comp, any help would be great thank you.The standard mouse drivers that come with windows work pretty well for most basic mice, two buttons and a scroll wheel, but USUALLY you will need other drivers for advanced mouse buttons.

I've got a Logictech wireless mouse with EXTRA buttons and need Logictechs software to take advantage of the extra features.

I've got a side button I've programmed for BACK and it's the handiest feature I've seen on a mouse.Sorry, the driver i have and am using at the moment is a windows driver, the thing is it's the function of autoscroll that i want back, pressing it brings up my docs. Alot of programs and websites use the autoscroll; such as webpages etc, as a button in itself. I have it programmed to the shift key at the moment but i'd really quite like to just get my autoscroll function backuninstall ALL mouse software, including setpoint. Remove the mouse driver and reboot, and it should be automatically found again.thakyou for your help

it may sound silly but how do you actually uninstall drivers firstly and secondly; will the mouse work with no mouse driver after reboot? i thought a driver has to be installed to recognise the mouse etc

sorry, i'm just not too familiar with this sort of thing lol, thankyou thoughoh and i'va ctually already uninstalled setpoint, it now only the microsoft driver i found (so far as i'm aware at least), however the problem continues
