Hi is there anybody out there who can let me know how to prevent the monitor from giving minute electroc shock ? can anyone tell me the reason behind this and how to prevent it ? it happens when i touch the monitor screen!!!!Well man I think it is normal. It is due to earth. Secondly there is no need to touch the screen of the monitor. You can also USE screen filter to prevent this.thanks !!! i will try to get monitor filter (screen filter) and i want to know does it affect the performance of my pc or monitor It is the static CHARGE that builds up across the face of the monitor and is due to the high voltage applied to phosphors to make them glow. The static charge itself is not dangerous but voltages inside the monitor are extremely so. All monitors and TV sets that use a CRT do this. The only way to prevent it is to not use it. If you need to clean the monitor, TURN it off and wait for at least 30 minutes for the charge to dissipate. Otherwise, You will just have to endure the small shock.I really don't know if this will help but when you turn on the monitor you should hear a noise as the de-Gaussing cuts in.

If you are in the habit of leaving the monitor on for long periods of time try using the de-Gausser and see if that helps.

Last time I can across de-Gaussing big-time it was on a SHIP and was used as an anti-mine measure.

We stripped out the cabling and sold it for the copper content when the price of copper soared.I don't think deguassing would do much in this situation. Without getting technical, certain components build up magnetism and cause the color guns to not be true. This can cause blurred or shadowy images and other anomolies. Degaussing removes the RESIDUAL magnetism that builds up over a period of time and keeps the color guns tracking properly. It will have little or no effect on the static charge that is present at the front of screen.wear rubber shoes/and dont have sweaty hands.........how is this monitor? my one does not do ,what your ones does.?
