Answer» I have a Dell Dimension 4100 and my FATHER has some laptop. Every know and again the CD Drive can't be seen on my computer and to fix it I just formated the whole pc and transfered my files off. But he has ENCOUNTERED the same problem and doesn't want to format the drive.Go to Device Manager and see if the CD Rom shows. They will be listed as Primary IDE Channels. Try going to Properties>Driver>Roll back Driver. That might do it. If not you got to access the BIOS and check the IDE settings there. NEVER mind my father went to MICROSOFTS website and it told him to get rid of two files an it started working again. Might be the same way for mine if it happens again.Hey Squall, GLAD he got that fixed. Woud you happen to know what two files or what page her got that from? Just like to see it for reference.
