Answer» Hi. I recently acquired a new h/drive a Seagate 320g/b which I DECIDED to use as my main drive loaded win 7 all working O.K but discovered it was a slower drive than my original.
Fortunately I didn’t format my old drive a 1t/b Hitachi so I have reverted back to that as my main drive and am using the Seagate as a second drive.
The problem is I seem to have lost 22g/b of space off the second (Seagate) drive any thoughts or SUGGESTIONS welcome. Thanks. You haven't lost any space. Disk drive makers measure space in decimal (1 GB = 1000000000 bytes) but file systems measure space in binary (1 GB = 343597383680 bytes). 320000000000 bytes = 320 GB (decimal) = 298 GB (binary). 320 GB - 298 GB = 22 GB.

I don't believe he has lost any space. You MAY be right. Just got back from the golf COURSE and checking a few forums - didn't bother to do the math here. Thanks guy’s now I understand.
