I have a Monarch Computers custom system with a mitsumi 7 in 1 floppy drive and card reader. When I FIRST recieved the system, the Mitsumi drive was recognized with 2 removable hard drives listed in My Computer. At some POINT these drives disappeared. I opened the case and checked the pin hookup, removing and replacing the USB motherboard connection. After restarting the computer, everything was running fine.

However, 2 days after fixing the problem, I tried inserting a secure DIGITAL card, and the drive light came on, but didn't try to autorun. I opened the removable drive manually, and the computer hung for a long time, finally making the "ding-dong" sound signalling I had lost the usb connection, and the drives disappeared. What would cause the drive to intermittently drop like this?

I had a very long wait for this system in the first place, and when I finally did receive it it had a BAD ram chip, so I'm hoping to not have to send the drive back if it can be helped. When I reset the usb connectors, I moved the 4-pin from the top slot into the bottom, but i suppose that whole usb port might be bad... Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
