Solve : mobo directx question?

Answer»

hello there everyone. bout to build a gaming rig. got a few pieces from the egg of new and some from micro center for CERTAIN deals that would save me money. got an athlon 2 x4 640 and ended up going with biostar A780L3G AM3 760G mATX Motherboard which was free with the pairing of the athlon. the video card i'm going with is evga gts 450 which is dx 11. operating system is going to be windows 7. next to the pci e slot on the board in the picture on newegg it says dx10 right next to the slot, what does this mean? im confussed. does this mean the board only supports dx10 video cards and lower? operating SYSTEMS? does this mean that i cant use this board with my video card? operating system, SINCE they are both dx 11 PLEASE help im confused.Probably means the onboard vid chip is DirectX10....
However if you are running the vid card it will support DirectX11...You can use the video card with the system. Some people ran DX9 video cards on a Pentium III system, so you should have no problems using a DX11 card on the mobo which says DX10. The mobo is probably older than the video card.Quote from: patio on February 17, 2011, 05:48:14 AM

I'm going to say that it does mean the onboard video chip supports DirectX10; I say this because DirectX support rests on the graphics card or chip, and has nothing to do with the interface being used (there is no special DX11 PCI-Express).
