Solve : Moniter light just flashes on and off?

My moniter light just flashes on and off when I turn my computer on. The fans are working and I've tried several moniters so I'm assuming it it a hardware problem. I've read through about 60 pages of THREADS here and only seen one similar problem.

Could a virus have killed the hardrive?
If so, how would I go about replacing it.Does the monitor light flash when the computer is off? Yes, the hard DISK could be dead. Do you have virus  protection? Have you MADE any changes to your system recently?

No virus protection unfortunatly, I haven't made any changes latley. The moniter works on other computers.
