Solve : Monitor energy saveer power down?

Answer»

The monitor has stopped turning off after fifteen MINUTES (the time I selected) When I change the length of time setting, it will shut down one time only.  As a RESULT, the desktop or document on the screen, stays there.  I want it to turn down when not in use.  Thanks for any help.Sorry, but I don't really understand the problem.

The monitor will not shut off? What happens?
How long is the timer set for?
What Operating System?
Is this a Laptop? Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on March 11, 2009, 03:23:32 AM

"My operating system is Windows XP.  I have an H/P PC, not a laptop.  The monitor screen should darken after ten minutes of non-use.  It does not darken at all.  It did darken when not being used, but a cuple of months ago, it ceased to do so.Welcome to Windows power saving features.
Unfortunately, they often fail to work properly.
I don't use them at all.Broni is right.

I use the features, but they can stop working at almost any time, for no apparent reason.

I've been fortunate in that I've NEVER had trouble restarting them, if needed. It's strange I have not had any power=save problems. However, I don't use Hibernate ect....That's the whole point.
If they work, and you want to save $5/year on your energy bill, use them.
If they stop working, forget them.
Honestly, I never understood why people use those features, to start with.Stand By is a great feature in School. Saves me having to turn off and turn on my laptop between classes.

People have them, but they don't use them. It irritates me so much when people are waiting for their Windows to turn on and the teacher has already begun the lesson, then being INTERRUPTED by Window's startup sound.Laptops, especially, when on battery, I understand. Other, that that, no. Quote from: Broni on March 14, 2009, 08:06:27 PM

Agreed. In fact, one of my Desktop's Stand By doesn't work at all.   I never tried it on any desktop before, so I wouldn't know....LOL
