Solve : Monitor has shaded bands traveling up the screen?

Answer»

I bought a new 22" Viewsonic monitor and NOTICED that there are horizontal shaded bands traveling from the bottom to the top of the screen. They were very faint at first, but now are quite noticeable. I intalled the drivers from the CD that came with the monitor, and the correct monitor shows up in my hardware profile. I am running WinXP.

Has anyone else had this problem?
that could be caused by any number of problems. Check your cables and make sure they are plugged in all the way. Check your refresh rate and set it to 60Hz. Try changing the resolution to something else. If you aren't sure how to do these things, post back. Thanks, I already CHANGED the resolution to a number of different settings. The lower the resolution, the slower the bands would travel up the screen. I will try the other things you mentioned and see if it clears up.Are you USING the video cable that came with the monitor?Yes, I'm using that cable. Do you think there MIGHT be a problem with that? I have a different cable that I could try out.

I'm at work right now, I'll have to try these things when I get home tonight.
OK, what happened when I got home was that when I disconnected the USB printer cable from the computer in order to move the computer to check the monitor connection in back, the bands went away. Sure enough, as soon as I reconnect the printer (I plug it into the USB port in the front) the bands re-appear. What's that all about?that almost makes me think there is a problem with your power supply. Can we have some more information about your computer?
Model, Make, operating system, what's plugged into it, how old it isOK I'll get that info this EVENING. Thanks for staying with me on this.no problem.
