Solve : Monitor not connecting?

Answer»

I've just bought a new monitor (Benq EW2780q) and was planning to connect it via HDMI (it only has HDMI and DISPLAY PORT and my PC doesn't have display port).

However, the HDMI cable doesn't seem to work from my computer (Chillblast, Windows 10) to the monitor.  The problem is with my PC, as the HDMI from the PC doesn't seem to work with any monitor (I was using VGA with my previous monitor, but I'm sure I've used HDMI in the past), and the monitor does work via HDMI from my laptop.

Am I right in assuming that the HDMI port on my PC is dead and I should exchange the monitor for a different model (which would be sad), or is there some setting I need to set or some other obvious way to make the port work? Quote from: guyshahar on March 15, 2020, 02:55:50 AM

You answered your own question. GET another monitor. My own HDMI luck has been poor. HDMI sucks.Ignore the above advice...
Many vid cards need the proper drivers installed to enable HDMI...
You could go back to your VGA connection and install them...on re-boot it should be fine.Thank you.  I've UPDATED the video card drivers, but it doesn't help.  The new monitor doesn't have a VGA option.....Have you tried contacting Chillblast support?  MAYBE there's a setting in the BIOS or elsewhere that needs to be toggled to enable HDMI.Do you have a dedicated graphics card? If you do Chillblast computers disables all graphics connections from the motherboard. Only the Graphics card connections are enabled. So if the HDMI connection is a motherboard connection your monitor will not work. Thanks - no I hadn't thought of that...
