hello!

I got a harebrained idea today and wish I had a time machine LOL. Anyway I am posting fromu iPhone so please forgive any errors

HP pavilion a847c
250 g serial ata hard drive
Pentium 4 w/hyperthreading
512 mb pc3200 DDR sdram
HP pavilion f1703 flat monitor

Windows xp sp 2 & 3

I pulled a video card (PNY GFORCE 3200 64 bit) out of my old machine since the hd crashed.  I also pulled 2 512 mb memory cards and installed all into the second machine (specs above). Now when I power it up, it does the single beep (I understand that this indicates all is SUPPOSEDLY well?) but the monitor doesn't wake up!!! 

Help!! What could havegone wrong and any suggestions on what I can do?  I have done these installs before on other pcs with no issues and I'm stumped

Try booting the machine in safe mode and SEE what happens...thanks. I'll try removing the memory cards though they should be compatible

How do I start in safe mode if I can't see anythiing?  Dumb question I know but it's been forever since I've had to use safe mode haRestart the machine and tap F8 repeatedly and before you see the Windows splash SCREEN...Well, removed memory cards and it starts, but resolution is way off, everything is huge !  I am in safe mode now, but when I try to restart, it just restarts itself and then prompts me to start in safe mode.  I even tried plugging the monitor back into it's original spot and it's still doing the same thing.  I guess I should have left it alone, huh?

I don't know what to do next   Maybe the video card is shot?  If that's the case, wouldn't the original video card work?
