Answer» I'm having troubles with my laptop. The back light or lcd is burnt out so the display is dark. I've hooked the laptop up to an old Sony monitor, and it appears to work when starting up, up until "windows is loading," the display is fine, but once windows actually loads the Sony monitor kind of flashes and turns off. The laptop display is still black. So, I started in SAFE mode, and the display on the Sony monitor is working fine, I've looked for drivers but EVERYTHING is up to date and compatible. I'm running Windows XP, the laptop is an hp pavillion zd 7000. The monitor is Sony cpd-e240. Any ideas?I would guess the resolution you have set in your laptop (while running normal mode) is HIGHER than your monitor will support. TRY accessing your display settings while in safe mode and set the resolution to a lower value, then restart to normal mode.That was it, thanks.No problem. Glad you got it going.
