Answer» Monitor: Viewsonic VX924 LCD
Monitor started blinking off and on every few moments, and when it blinked back on it said ANALOG in the bottom corner as if the SENSOR was just picking up again or something.
Also, the screen went blank white for awhile, and I could see the desktop if I looked from above, but not straight on.
This just started happening last night.
Do I need to replace the monitor?how old is the monitor ? Do you have another monitor you could swap in just to be sure your vid card isnt going ?
dl65 Yeah I tried my roommate's monitor briefly and it seemed fine. I'm not sure what would have caused this to happen to my monitor it's only about 6 months old. I'm going to call thew company xpcgear.com where I got it, on monday and hope for the best.Nvidiot..... ok , then that pretty MUCH rules out the vid card as being suspect . Did any software come with that monitor ? Hopefully , the monitor will still be under warantee.

Sounds like the backlight inverter BOARD.
It's a very common problem.
LCD's use four small Cold Compact Fluorescent bulbs to back light the display. (thats what gives the LCD it's brightness allowing you to see it)
The inverter board runs these lights and when they go bad they will typically SHOW symptoms like you have or the monitor power light comes on and you have either no display or a very dim display.
If you ever have one that has no display but the power light is on you can check by shining a flashlight directly into the LCD from the front (right into the screen) if you can see an image then it's either the inverter board (most likely) or the CCFL bulbs have gone bad.
The inverter board and CCFL's are replaceable.Standard Viewsonic LCD monitors have a 3 year warranty IF it came from a legitimate dealer.

Don't even think about doing this repair yourself.
