Solve : monitor unlocked :D?

Answer»

ok, so, i have this old Dell Trinitron ultrascan 1000HS 17 inch monitor my NEIGHBOR gave me, she could not figure out how to unlock the monitor controls to set the monitor, unfortunatly, neither can i... the only thing i can ACCESS in the OSD is the language menu, which doesnt do me any good, it wont let me adjust a thing, if i press the auto adjust buttons (assuming thats what that button is) it just shows a KEY on the monitor... do i need the correct software to unlock this relic? my NEC that i was using died, one of the electron guns crapped out, and my magitronic just wont turn on, i have only tryed to turn it on twice, but i noticed the smell of electronic death as i call it, so i unplugged... i have to get this monitor unlocked somehow, my only other monitors are a NEC multisync 50, and some packard bell monitor, both are 15 or 13 inch monitors (not sure which) and they are both about to crap out.... the model number of my dell monitor is: D1025TMBe sure to dispose of them properly as they die.

Are you telling me YOUR Google button is broken too?

dell has forums...? meh... worth a try..."Locked"? That's pretty odd, for a monitor. Do all the controls on the front of the monitor apparently work (when you're changing the language settings)?

If there is a lock/unlock facility, it MIGHT be related to holding down a particular button for five seconds, or holding something down whilst you switch the monitor on. Try that, systematically. You might strike lucky.tryed alot of button combo's, nothing works, i cant change anything in the language menu... could it have been locked by some software?

EDIT: dells info on this monitor says it should be plug and play, but under my display settings it just registers as "default monitor"... i am going to try to find the drivers for it and see if that helps

EDIT (again): i am turning up NOTHING on google but dead ends, dells site DOES NOT have drivers for this over sized paper weight... if anyone has any ideas on where to find drivers for this thing, tell me... i have looked at driversguide.com, not a thing there... gonna try to update the drivers VIA windows controls (this should be interesting)Indeed that monitor is plug and play. If there is no info in the link I sent that is helpful, do try posting on their site. i managed to unlock the menu by randomly mashing buttons in the language menu, i got tired of looking at endless google nonesense, so, i got desperat and mashed buttons till it unlocked, then i was able to reset it and set it to my liking, overall, this is a good monitor, i would reccomend it (have fun unlocking it when it is in a differant language though)Quote

i DID post on there site, go no help either. which puts my faith in dells "customer support" that much lowerThat is a volunteer site, much like this one. You can't demand immediate service as it depends on who drops in, if they are interested and what their level opf expertise is. As you got the monitor free and are not the original purchaser, you can't really harp on their lack of support as they really "owe" you nothing. Paying customers with a COMPONENT under warranty move to the front of the line in phone or e-mail support:
