Stay lit(green) while goes black on the same computer or on another one as Allan suggested?
When you bought the used monitor, did you check if its working or not? Quote from: awhantonio on January 09, 2011, 09:10:46 AM

What?
As was suggested try it on another computer or try another monitor on your computer. If you don't have access to another computer or monitor, try this:

Turn the computer on. When the screen goes black, turn the screen off. Do not shut off the computer. After about 5-10 minutes, turn the screen back on.

Does it light up and then shut off again? If so, it's most likely a problem with the screen. Either the capacitors in the screens power supply are bad or the backlight or backlight inverter is dying.

To determine if it's the backlight or capacitors, turn off the lights in the room and shine a flashlight at the screen. If you can see the image on the screen slightly, the backlight is bad. If not, it's probably the capacitors.

Backlights are fairly easy to replace. Replacing bad capacitors REQUIRES someone who knows what they're doing though as it requires working with a high voltage device.

However, if nothing happens when you turn the screen back on after 5-10 minutes, then it might be a problem with your video card.

Anyway, let us know how you get on with that.
