Answer» I recently ordered a new computer from pcspecialist and it doesn't work out of the box which is something I was afraid would happen.
It seems to boot fine everything turns on but the monitor will not turn on. ive tried two different monitors.
I tried to analyse the beep code, it beeps twice in total with about a 5 second gap between beeps. Based on the beep codes for my mobo (asus p7h55-m evo) which I found at http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm I thought the problem could be with the ram. As this is the easiest thing to change, I didnt mind reseating it, IM not to confident mucking about with any other hardware as I have no expierence.
Alas this didn't solve the problem and whats worse is now the computer will not beep at all on start up. If anyone could explain the significance of this to me, or GIVE me any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Ill post some specs for my computer if that will help
CPU: i5 750 MOBO: asus p7h55-m evo RAM: 4gb crosair XMS3 DUAL DDR3 1600mhz graphics card: GTX 465 600w PSUI can't tell if there is onboard video with that board. It looks like there is from the angle I'm looking at it. I'm using a dial up connection and having a hard time downloading images of the board right now.
Unplug the computer, open up the case and reseat the video card.. try powering BACK up..
If that doesn't work, unplug the computer, remove the video card, and plug the monitor into the blue VGA port on back. You'll have to use a vga-DVI adapter if your monitor cable is DVI standard.. If that works then it would seem the video card is bunk..(assuming the psu is in working order)HEY this is an easy fix, u said it didnt work out of the box? well i would send the dam thing back, or get on the phone with them, im sure they have some kind of warranty. As suggested above, when you receive a new computer you should always open it and make sure all cards are properly SEATED.
