Solve : motherboard, bios or o.s .?

Answer»

I am running XP and I removed my H.D. to try it out in an older COMPUTER  and reinstalled the same H.D.  in the ORIGINAL unit now my computer wont come up at allNot sure if we have enough info - was original MACHINE left off all time until HDD put back in?

What if anything was the performance of or any changes to that HDD in another machine.

Something has changed it seems but the original machine should not have minded the event if left off between removal and refit, and BIOS should not have changed plus, these days - auto detect should TAKE care of HDDs.  I am wondering re boot sector right now. With any OS newer than WinME it's not wise to just swap HDD's from machine to machine.....but you know that now.

Are you getting any BEEPS and or error messages ? ?yes I did get a series of beeps 5-2-2-1- what would that tell me?
What machine ?
What BIOS ?And if it's a custom built machine, who is the motherboard manufacturer?
