Solve : Motherboard or power supply problem??

Answer»

I recently replaced ASUS M2N32 SLI wireless deluxe with same.  MoBo was not responding.  First, I replaced Enermax 600 watts psu with same that also was not responding.  After replacing both, pc will only start if i unplug and replug the 12v cpu power while the pc power is on.  I know, that I was told at other forums not to do this, but this is the only way it starts normal.  Also, I noticed that the A: LIGHT stays on and isn't functioning.  I removed all devices and tried starting without A: CDR/W//DVD with no success.  I was considering another psu, but may instead settle for a psu tester.  Any ideas ANYONE?

What kind of Floppy drive is it, internal or USB?

If it is internal, make sure that the cable is connected the right way (not backwards)....look at the cable and verify that the the end with the twist is connected to the floppy drive..

Also, do you hear any beeps when you power on the computer?

Internal floppy, connected with twist to floppy drive.  No system beeps even if I unplug the keyboard.  Very odd.hmm, there might be a CMOS setting that needs to be adjusted......google for the BIOS SETTINGS  for your motherboard and see if there is something that can be adjusted, before you buy anything else...

anyone else?

You may have managed to take out 2 consecutive MBoards with this technique.
Or the CPU itself...The A: ribbon cable was backwards as far as the A: is concern.  I replace the MoBo again with a ASUS M2n32 green and everything boots up normal.
Thanks for all your great HELP.
