Answer» My girlfriend's desktop recently 'took a powder'. I think it's the typical power supply/motherboard ISSUE. Here's the spec. on it;
Emachines ModelT2792 WindowsGenuine Microsoft® Windows® XP Home CPU: Intel® Celeron® 2.70GHz Processor 128KB L2 cache & 400MHz FSB Chipset: Intel® 845GV chipset Memory: 256MB DDR (PC 2100) Hard DRIVE: 80GB HDD Optical Drive: 48x MAX. CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive; 3.5" 1.44MB FDD Video: Intel® Extreme Graphics 3D 64MB Shared memory Sound: AC '97 Audio Network: 10/100Mbps built-in Ethernet Modem: 56K ITU v.92-ready Fax/Modem Peripherals: Standard MULTIMEDIA Keyboard, 2-Button Wheel Mouse, Standard Stereo Speakers Ports/Other: 6 USB 2.0 ports (2 on FRONT), 1 Serial, 1 Parallel, 2 PS/2, Audio-In & Out Dimensions: 7.25"W x 14.125"H x 16"D
I already have a suitable 'better' power supply.
Our question is,,,should we go ahead and buy a direct intel 2003218 board, or has anyone found a better resolution?eMachines are notorious in some circles for cheap PSU's...you may want to swap the new one in there...that MBoard may be fine.Yes, we were made aware of the trouble being related to the cheap psu. And therefore purchased a better unit than that. Now the questions we have deal with the motherboard issue.You missed my point...the PSU may have caused the MBoard issues and that board may be fine.
